Places to Buy Cloth Menstrual Pads

You may think that there wouldn't be many cloth pad makers around, but there are plenty to choose from. I've made listings of all the brands I know of.

These are listed as a free service for both sellers and customers.  I put up every product that I can find, and I do not necessarily endorse the brands shown here.  Please check the individial pad maker's reviews for more information - but be aware that what one person will love in a pad someone else may not like.

For reviews of Cloth pads and other Menstrual products, go to the new review forum is at:

I've found it hard to keep the lists updated on the website, so I've moved it to a wordpress blog, where I'm making a sort of database that you can search by length, fabric, type of pad and country.  Also each brand will eventually have a single listing giving more information on it.

See that list here:

The Cloth Pad List

Often pad makers will have other accessories to offer too, these may include special bags/pouches to carry around used and clean pads, extra liners, bed protectors and other items.  Some will offer starter packages and discounts when buying multiple sets of pads.  So you can go as inexpensive or as all out as you like!  If the cost seems a little daunting at first, remember that you can start off your pad stash in small amounts, adding to it as your finances allow.  Buying one pad a month can help you to look forward to trying out a new pad and even your period!

Try to pay attention to what the pad is made of, its size/length and information like that - not just the pretty prints, to make sure you get something you can use.

Without wanting to take business away from the companies that sell cloth pads (including my own!), I think it's a lovely idea to make your own (If you are able to)...  Not only can you pick what materials,  colours, thickness and shapes you want to use, but the act of creating your own pads can be a satisfying experience. So check out the DIY Making pads section.

It is also a good idea not to go bananas and buy a bunch of pads from the one store at once - just in case you find you don't like them.  Its best to try a range of styles and go back for more when you know which ones you like and suit you best.

Some pad makers are happy to customise for you, and some do make each pad specially for the owner so it is fully customised anyway.  With a bought "off the shelf" type pad you have the convenience of buying something in stock and getting it quicker.

Reviews
It can sometimes be helpful to read about other users experiences with a particular brand, and there is a forum that has a listing of the majority of pad brands and invites users to fill out the rating and make comments on brands they have tried.
clothpadreviews.makeforum.org
So I encourage you to go there and check out the reviews and don't forget to leave a review for any pads you've tried!

Pad Swaps
Some places (such as http://www.moonhutnaturals.com) organise a pad swap, where women swap pads they have made or bought.
This could be a fun way to get something new
