Still Even Yet More NeoPulp.
18th May 2004, 10.15pm

The world of NeoPulp finally extends beyond the borders of my imagination. Issue seven in the new series of HEAT is out now (now! now! now!), featuring "The World of NeoPulp" - writing in the NeoPulp style by alicia sometimes, Kate Reeves, Carlie Lazar, Jo Waite and me.

Also this month, the long-awaited Manifesto edition of New Media Poetics features four pieces of my NeoPulp writing plus the Manifesto itself and a wee commentary on the whole darn thing. Melbournites stay tuned for the launch of HEAT 7 some time in late June - more details as they arise.

HEAT's available at all good bookstores in Australia, or you can request a copy from them directly via their subscriptions page. To whet your appetite, here's a sneak preview from alicia sometimes's contribution to the NeoPulp zeitgeist (yes, I did say "zeitgeist"), "antimatter woman":

even a simple lemon geometric curve kept her thinking about the accident. she would sigh in big cursive breaths. that day catching in her mouth like heavy wheat husks, forcing herself to pause so the memory could fade and deliquesce into another part of her brain. the accident had stimulated all her cells as if they were rioting and polyphonic, inverse and antique, lost and sound. she was a full rotation of her known self. from the moment she had stepped out of the particle accelerator those close to her had called her Delta Ray, everyone else: Antimatter Woman.

time now hacky sacked into the sleeves of other people. she would only have to smile and evil would be seduced, on all fours. she was no longer safe in the home of oxygen, electrons or kaons. she was dressed high-smart for the playing field of antistars and antigalaxies. the slightest tumble could annihilate all her friends. how do you tell someone you love that by kissing their neck you could halt the natural course of the universe?

You want more, you know where you can get it. Cos, like, I just sort of told you where. Is all.
