Man Bites Dog - Deleted Scenes

In this post-DVD world, what we all want most of all is to see the material that was excised from the body of work in order to create the sleek example of perfection in its field that the finished product is. We can't help it. We want to peek behind the scenes and see our cherised works of art in their underwear, so to speak. It's human nature, after all.

I've never been one to curb humanity's innate tendencies. Ask anyone. So here for your perverse enjoyment are scenes that didn't make the final cut. All I ask is that you be polite, fair and kind.

Scene 1: Molly Meldrum's Drink Card

This scene is taken from the sequence in which Gina and Steven are at the Prince of Wales at a music magazine launch. I had this whole bit where Steven bumped into music guru Molly Meldrum in the dunnies. I thought it was kind of funny.

Scene 2: Burger

A visit to the land of hungover hypocrisy as Steven grabs himself a post-sex burger on the way home from his first night spent with Emma. I had the idea for this scene on the way home from a particularly boozy night. I didn't have a pen and paper on me, so I called my answering machine and described the scene over the phone, recording it on the answering machine, and then transcribed it after the long tram-ride home.

Scene 3: Blood in Your Undies

Waiting for a taxi outside the Prince of Wales, Steven and Gina encounter a less-than-delicate young lady and almost catch the Heavy Product guy. This scene was partially deleted and partially re-written and re-set back in North Fitzroy in the final version.
