- In October 2008, Rod Johnston of French Island Eco Tours was joined by his partner Suzanne Roberts writing and trialling a French Island, Australian based Murder Mystery, Suzanne deciding to help Rod run Tortoise Head Lodge, preparing weekend meals as required, and re-open the very successful wine-bar and tea rooms, so as to allow more people to enjoy the views and nature of French Island.

- In October 2006, Rod Johnston of French Island Eco Tours was asked to manage Tortoise Head Lodge, French Island’s iconic accommodation house, just 250 metres from the Tankerton jetty, and with sensational views from every room. Rod is keen to offer top affordable accommodation, with real “aussie” homestyle hospitality, for people who want to retreat, chill out, recharge, perhaps join him on an eco-tour (packages available), or participate in a murder mystery, music weekends etc. To find out more, WATCH THIS SPACE !

- On November 25, 2002, French Island Eco Tours, won the Ecotourism Category of the 2002, Yellow Pages, Victorian Tourism Awards. (This follows their two Merit awards in 2000 and 2001, where they were within 2% of winners Polperro Dolphin Swims.)

- In June 2002, French Island Eco Tours gained "official" Accreditation through the Better Business, Tourism Accreditation Program.

- In December, 2002, French Island Eco Tours was awarded Advanced Ecotourism Certification with the Nature & Ecotourism Accreditation Program (NEAP), an initiative of the Ecotourism Association of Australia.
