CommET offers research and consultancy services in the area of adult language, literacy and numeracy and vocational education and training. Services include:

  • development of customised assessment, teaching and learning materials and products to meet AQTF standards;
  • learner diagnostic and outcomes assessment systems;
  • facilitation of moderation;
  • industry specific workplace communication strategic planning;
  • development of competency standards;
  • evaluation of competency standards;
  • enterprise training needs analysis; and
  • evaluation of program effectiveness.

Facilities

The office is located on the western fringe of the Melbourne CBD and has the following facilities:

  • computer network system with up to date data analysis and publications software and connections to the internet for research and communication;
  • a professional library specialising in vocational, and adult language, literacy and numeracy publications;
  • a meeting room for consultations, focus groups and workshops;
  • teleconferencing equipment; and
  • access to public transport and parking.

  • Development of language, literacy and numeracy specialist practice Units of Competency as part of the revised Training Package for Teaching and Assessment, National Assessors and Workplace Trainers Body, 2002 in progress

Recognised Training

CommET delivers

  • Applied Communication Skills (Course Code 30077Qld)
    This is a flexible course in adult literacy, numeracy and communications skills that can be tailored to individual client needs or delivered in conjunction with vocational training

CommET delivers training and assessment services to assist practitioners in the Vocational and Training sector gain nationally recognised qualifications. We currently have scope to deliver:

  • Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (Course Code BSBZ40198)
    This course is delivered by flexible delivery mode

Professional Development Services

CommET also provides specialist professional development services which can be negotiated and customised to the needs of clients. Where such services meet requirements for recognised training outlined in the two Certificate IV qualifications outlined above, statements of attainment will be issued.

These staff training or professional development services include:

Customised training on the uses of the National Reporting System, the reporting system for adult language, literacy and numeracy in a range of government funded programmes such as the Workplace English Language and Literacy Programme and the Language Literacy and Numeracy Programme

Professional development in negotiating and managing workplace language, literacy and numeracy programs: including

  • the development or pre-training literacy and numeracy assessment
  • the development of support indicator assessment processes,
  • training plans;
  • and customised resources addressing language, literacy and numeracy requirements of clients
