"Musical spoof on suburban life presented in Marx Bros style. Deals hilariously with garbage collection, public transport, family life, etc" Nunawading Gazette

Big success with adults, youth theatre and schools. A circus as a musical, play, pantomime and revue. Even as dinner theatre. Suburban Circus is a prize-winning musical winning a Best Musical competition and then overall first prize as Best Show.

Being a series of skits means it's a cinch to rehearse. There are 16 skits about suburban life, all with a circus theme. The garbos are the jugglers who juggle your garbage. The school-crossing supervisor the high-wire act. The parking cops are the clowns who book motorists by squirting cream on paper plates and pushing them in the motorist's face! The paperboys/girls are your trick cyclists.

There are vocal, mime and dance items. The opening number is terrific. "Big-top, three-ring, spectacle and mirth. Show-time, vaudeville, greatest show on earth." Rehearsals are a breeze. There are skits on road workers, the average family, hard-working housewives, public transport, local swimming pool, supermarket shopping, meals on wheels and more. It's a hoot. The big parade is the sunburn parade at your local pool. "There are four fat folk a-frying in the sun, there are six slick show-offs somewhat overdone. There are saps with caps perhaps who think it's fun, In the sunburn parade."

It's been staged by all ages in all sorts of venues from New York to New Zealand. A narrator/s and a cast as big or as small as you like. Some have even staged a repeat season! Why not hire a tent and stage Suburban Circus in your local park or village green? It makes a marvellous piece of dinner theatre or school concert. Running just 65 minutes it's a fantastic short musical. Like so many of Cen Fox's musicals, Suburban Circus works with kids, teenagers and adults.

"Thank you for your wonderful script. We had a fantastic night and everyone loved the performance - especially the performers!" St Leonard's College

A lively, punchy musical about the environment. With lots of comedy and drama, Rubbish is a clever look at pollution and litter in your town. Under your street is a drain and in that drain is the village of Garbage where you'll find people just like you. In Trash Street you'll meet some very interesting folk.

Hamburger Clam and Smokes are a couple of brilliant procrastinators. They enjoy putting off everything. "Laziness we push, life should be a cush, doin' nothin's what we choose." Plastic and Can are more community minded with ideas on cleaning up the street and elsewhere. Glass is a tidy fanatic and even washes his/her rubbish before stacking it neatly in a pristine rubbish bin. "Everything in its place and a place for everything."

When a bureaucrat arrives to see if there's any tagged litter floating in the river, the residents demand to know what's going on. But when an engineer arrives looking for holes in which to dump garbage, all hell breaks loose. "If you've got trash to throw away, then like the night that follows day, you've gotta dig down through that clay to pop it in, just drop it in." A rubbish dump in our town! No way!

Clam has a brilliant idea to wrap the river in plastic. Plastic has a neat idea to get the muddy colour out of the river. The engineer finds a hole to start a rubbish dump. The action hots up.

Stick and Straw are the Thin Twins and they're sick and tired of all the water washing down into their village. They embark on a special plan to stop the water. Suddenly the whole world goes black. What's happened? Is this the end of the world?

Everything races to a powerful finale. This 50 minute musical has 10 characters, a chorus as big or as small as you like, a fascinating underground set and some terrific, bouncy songs. "You've got to get rid of your rubbish by not creating it in the first place." It's perfect if you wish to educate and entertain on the vitally important subject of our environment. Very popular. Loads of free back-up material for environment studies.

"Students, staff and community loved it" Driver HS

Hilarious, over-the-top short musical ideal as dinner-theatre or melodrama. Doctor Pimples is an evil con-merchant preaching that young people must look a certain way if they are to be successful. S/He has convinced the beautiful but gullible Lulu Smith she is ugly and would be scorned if she ever went out into public. Lulu is desperate to get pimples to become attractive.

Dr P's lecherous assistant Leroy is giving Lulu a truly tough time. Also working for Dr Pimples is nice guy, journalist Eddy Tore and are two chocoholics, Spotty and Rash, who know the truth but are afraid to tell Lulu in case they lose their ration of chocolate eclairs.

Dave Sunshine is a hunky, spunky pop star with a flawless complexion. "Oh I've got fresh breath and white teeth and bright, shiny hair. I've dimples, no pimples and clean underwear." Dave is managed by Doctor Pimples and is making a packet for his nasty boss. But disaster dominates! Dave discovers he has a pimple. Dr Pimples is furious. Pop stars are meant to be gorgeous and blemish-free.

Delores Delightful is a sensational star who discovers the rotten business with Lulu and Doctor Pimples. "Never give a sucker an even break or else they'll quickly make a sucker out of you!" Delores tells Lulu the truth but Lulu can't/won't believe it. Eddy joins them and the corrupt empire is under threat. Melodrama takes over. Arch villain Dr Pimples and sidekick Leroy plot to destroy the goodies.

Dave Sunshine is really Rupert Balonsky and Lulu used to buy pizza from Dave's parents. This is earth-shattering stuff! The two pairs of sweethearts are re-united and the evil empire of Dr Pimples is finally destroyed. The goodies win, the baddies repent and the company finish by singing the toe-tapping number "The right way to judge any people is not to judge them at all".

Doctor Pimples is short, just 65 minutes, has 8 main roles, scope for a chorus, one simple set, has inexpensive but striking costumes and makes a great first-up musical, lively dinner-theatre and a terrific melodrama.

"We used Year 5, 6 and 7 students and had a choir of about 40 who remained on stage for the whole show. They enjoyed all the songs although Classical Chaps and Musical Styles were favourites. Compared to other productions, Music! was great for organizational reasons. Each group was able to have a lot of input into their section and then it was just a matter of putting all the sections together. Hence rather than have a few main characters dominate, Music! gave many students the opportunity to "shine". The local newspaper described the show as great entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed performing Music! Kadina PS

A musical about music. 70 minutes of fun, action, education, entertainment and more fun. The show is divided into sections which make rehearsals a breeze.

"You'll find rhythm with a snazzy, jazzy beat.
You'll find melody to make you tap your feet.
You'll find harmony, close harmony so sweet in this musicale, carnivale treat."

There are the scientists explaining how we hear music, pre-historic folk showing how music was invented, the maestro demonstrating music, the dancing notes, the supermarket shopper "embracing" wallpaper music. "They give you Gershwin by the gherkin, they let Lloyd Webber loose above the fruit."  There are the all-singing musical instruments, the fabulous musical styles [rock, latin, blues and ragtime], the famous composers [Beethoven, Bach, Mozart and Tchaikovsky] performing a barbershop quartet. "We're classical chaps, we're yesterday's heroes who still hang around today."

And then there's the fascinating finale - a musical work about musical language. When you sing about legato, you sing legato. Or staccato,  rallentando and accelerando. When you sing about presto you perform at that tempo. It's brilliant.

"Mezzo forte, hemiola, modulation [change key here]
Semiquaver, hurdy-gurdy, syncopation [off the beat here]
Passionato, tremolando, rallentando [pull back here]
Enharmonic, pianissimo, accelerando" [get faster here]

And there's even an excerpt from John Cage's silent show piece. Music is silence too!

Heaps of principal roles with lots of doubling if required. Tons of chorus work. One simple set, can use adults and children as performers and is an ideal show for any group which enjoys their music. Sing, sing, sing with Music!

SMOKIES

"Just wanted to let you know the premiere of Smokies was fantastic. The kids - 75 4th and 5th graders - did a dynamite job. By show's end we will have exposed approximately 1500 students to your anti tobacco thoughts/script. Thanks millions for your support and interest. "
Marshall Magnet School, Flagstaff Arizona

A snappy, serious but funny musical about tobacco. Set in a nighclub called Smokies, all sorts of acts perform for the audience [your chorus] who cough their appreciation.

Smokies is a musical which informs both performers and their audiences of the facts about nicotine. It's often over-the-top stuff but there is always a strong and clear message.

Nobody is hit over the head with gloom and doom. Instead they're laughing and clapping along to the Tacky Backy Cabaret with such acts as The Virginia Slims chorus line, the loopy Professor Lung-Buster, comics Smoke-It and Choke-It, famous explorer Christopher Columbus, hypnotist Pierre Pressure, social snob Netty Ket, Vent 'n Kent the ventiloquist and dummy, Nick O'Teen and the star-crossed lovers with bad breath.

The CD has all the intros and exits plus the songs and dances played by a typical raucous stage band in a nighclub.

You'll entertain and educate with all the positive un-filtered tips in Smokies.
