This photo, taken at the mouth of a very popular freshwater stream on the Eastern side of Fraser Island, demonstrates clearly why it's a good idea to stay away from the island during the school holidays. Four wheel drive is the only way to travel around the island, and here are 24 of them, parked while their occupants enjoy a refreshing paddle in the crystal-clear creek. Add the occupants of three tour busses, and you can imagine how crowded the area actually was.
