Life and Love

Love / Feelings / Dilemna / Untitled / Tapestry / Secrets

Love ('87)

Love is very fragile
Like a flower
or a snow-flake.
One minute
all is fine.
He's happy.
She's happy.
Then anger intrudes
a dischord
Love lies broken
The snowflake melted
The flower -
Crushed.

Feelings ('88)

Sometimes I feel like an eagle
Soaring
           high,
                 high,
                        above the ground.
And never coming down
To face
            the problems of the world.

Sometimes I feel like a snail
Insignificant,
                  and tiny,
Able to be squashed underfoot
Without
            a moment's thought.

Sometimes I feel like I'm not really here
But am a ghost.
                      Invisible,
                                   intangible,
Unable to affect my surroundings
By anything
                 I do
                       at all.

Sometimes  I feel like a candle
Fragile,
           flickering,
                         wavering
                                       in every draft.
Able to be snuffed out
by one
          single
                   puff of wind.
Never to shine
                      again.

Dilemma ('90)

What do you do
When you know
      So little
And they are sure
That you know
    So much?

Untitled ('91)

I walk
Surrounded by people
Yet I am always alone.
For none can touch
The stillness of my heart.

Tapestry ('92)

Life
is a tapestry
Woven from pain
Shot through
with the golden threads
of Joy.

Secrets ('95)

If you asked a dozen people
'What is the secret of life?'
You would get a dozen answers.
Some would say 'Money!'
Or 'Power!'
Or 'Fame!'
But they would be wrong.
The real secret of  life
is very simple.
So simple in fact
That you wonder
why it is a secret at all?
Not money, for money is merely paper,
and worthless until spent.
Not power, for power comes by hate,
and fear, and greed.
Not fame, for fame is fleeting,
and today's new talent is tommorrow's has been.
The real secret of life
is
LOVE.
