[Tom Thum' magazine was originally released in December, 1992. This web site includes the original text]

Well we finally made it Issue 1! Tom Thum' is a result of many months determination, perseverance and sheer hard slog, but it's definitely been worth the effort I think so anyway!! People have heard me talking about putting out a magazine for years now and 1992 was the year I said 'that's it, I'm definitely going to do it'. The concept of Tom Thum' was developed by Daniel Ring and Matthew Wicks. It was originally going to be a magazine covering Australian '60s bands only but then I came along! Sure it's really important to keep all of the '60s bands alive, but hey there's a whole lot of current bands out there who are keeping the spirit of those times alive and that's just as, if not more, important. So don't call us retro, OK?

Also, Tom Thum' is carrying on in the fine tradition of Australian '60s oriented fanzines established by The Livin' End, From the Vault and Born Loser. All of these magazines have ceased production, so we felt the need to fill the gap.

They've already been mentioned on the Credits page, but I'd like to give Downliner Doug and Saffron another special mention without you guys there would be no Tom Thum'. You guys kept me going when I was about ready to throw it in you are simply the greatest!! A special thank-you to the bands who agreed to help us launch Tom Thum' - The Crusaders (from Sydney!), The Al Mining Company and The Saucermen. And James 'Apache' Pierce thank-you thank-you thank-you for coming down to the launch all the way from Brisbane!

Love,

Jackie xx
