Customer Service
Obsidian Star is a business owned and run by one person,  so you'll always get a personal service, because you deal only with me.

I basically run my business that I can stay home and be a mum and take a little financial pressure off the family.  I feel very strongly that the most important thing is that the customer is happy and satisfied with whatever they have purchased.

The main focus of my business has changed from the Pagan aspect, and now is mainly centered on the cloth menstrual pads.  My aim is to not only make women aware of cloth pads, but help them find comfortable and funky alternatives to disposable products.

Honesty
Of course nobody is going to say they are dishonest, but I do believe honesty is the best policy.  I have often recommended other cloth pad brands to my potential customers, because my primary concern is for each woman to find the product that best suits her, which isn't always the products I make. So if you ask me for advice on cloth menstrual pads, I'll try and give you advice based on what I think would be suited to you, not which products I can sell to you.

I am first and formost a human being (before a "business woman") and I treat others as I would like to be treated myself.  Which means I am not out to make a quick buck to the detriment of other people... thats just not me.

If you have a problem with your order, please e-mail me to discuss it. Just as I like being happy with a purchase I make, I want my customers to be happy with the purchases they make.

Environmental
Being a Pagan, I have a strong bond with the Earth, and feel strongly about environmental issues.  I always aim to use as least amount of product packaging as possible, limit the waste produced from manufacturing my items, and limit wastage in everyday life.

Getting your order to you in the same condition it left here, in the least environmentally damaging way is my aim.

Orders are sent in a paper envelope or wrapped in brown paper. I have recently made the switch to 100% recycled paper envelopes. I use a resealable plastic bag ("ziplock" type bag) inside this, to keep the items safe from weather/damage. While this is plastic, I believe this is the best option (over plastic mailing envelopes), as the resealable bags can be reused many times, and can also double as a "wetbag" to carry used pads in when you are out. I feel people are more likely to re use these bags than to use the plastic mailing envelopes again.

All sewing scraps too small to be used are collected and used as stuffing in rag dolls, or donated to a Kindergarden rather than being thrown away. All fabrics are washed prior to sewing, in a cold wash, with minimum water settings (diverting the water on the garden), using a small amount organic herbal laundry liquid (Natural Instinct).
