Cloth
nappies have come a long way from the old fashioned flat square of towelling.
Modern nappies of today are shaped like a disposable to make it easy for
parents to use. So you don't need to know Nappy-Origami any more!
There is no need for soaking or sanitising, it's really just as simple
as putting the used nappies in a (dry) nappy bucket and putting them all
in the wash at the end of the week. If you are new to the concept
of modern cloth nappies, please see my Cloth
Nappy website, check out this
great site or simply google "Modern Cloth Nappies", which will give
you more information.

These were designed
from patterns I made for nappies for my daughter, and now that she is toilet
trained I really miss making nappies, so now I like to make the occasional
nappy for other children.

-
Rounded
Hook and Loop tape - I round off all edges on all hook and loop, leaving
no sharp edges to poke into bub. Where possible I also match the colour
of the tape to the nappy fabric. Purple on purple, black on black,
red on red etc..
-
Elasticised
Pocket opening - Both the outside and inside layers are elasticised
to give a snug fit, keep stuffing in but let even large daddy hands in.
-
Elasticised
front - I add elastic to the front of the nappies which gives the front
of the nappy a curve to help it fit snugly against the body.
-
Full length
loop - the whole front of the nappy has loop tape to give you maximum
extension of the nappy to fit over those little Buddha Bellies!
-
Elasticised
legs - I run the elastic very tight through the legs from the back
of the nappy right to the front to help stop any leakage out the sides.
This is one reason my nappy pattern can fit smaller children, as the legs
elastics keep the nappy snug even on a smaller child.

Matching
products for Mum and Bub
Now you and your
child can have matching cloth products!
When making custom
nappies I have enough of the waterproof fabric left over to make 1 or 2
pads.

Fold
Up Boosters/Pocket Stuffers/Infant Contours
I got
sick of layering several things together to make inserts for the pocket
nappies. So I created these
They
are an hourglass shaped booster with a rectangle fold out section.
This gives 8 layers of absorbency!
And best
of all, it's so simple to use, and fast drying!!
Booster
unfolded..... fold 1/3 over....... then again. Simple!
These
can be used as night boosting in fitted nappies, or even just as is inside
a well fitting cover!

If you would
like to see some pictures of my creations, you'll find them here.
It might give you inspiration for a custom nappy, or just show you what
I can do.
There
are also some pictures of bubs wearing the nappies, so it can give you
an idea of sizing/fitting. |
