Fabrics Available
I try to choose
fabrics that are both fun and interesting. I buy only a few metres of material
at a time, so the printed fabrics will change from time to time.
The current fabrics I have available are shown below. Fabrics marked
with * have only a tiny bit left.

Please note
that the fabrics may look slightly different in real life than they do
in these photos due to differences in monitor and video card settings and
performance. The pictures of the pads will also give you an indication
of their colours. Some staining may occur due to the nature of the pads
use (although this should be eliminated by proper care for your pads),
so if you are concerned about this please select fabrics with darker colours
and no white/light areas.
| Please
note: I've received several e-mails asking to buy fabric.
I
do not sell fabric. This page is for customers to select the
fabric they would like an item made up in. If you've found this page
from a search (eg google) and are looking for somewhere to buy fabric,
I'm afraid you are in the wrong place. |

Brushed cotton
is very similar in feel to flannelette but is slightly thicker
Cotton Velveteen
This is a fabric
similar to velvet. It is 100% cotton, with a thick luxurious feel.
Adds extra absorbency as well as feeling nice.
It has a shorter
pile than velour. I chose velveteen because I wanted to give the
option of darker colours, particularly black.

It's hard
to get good pictures of the colours, they always come out dark - I think
it has to do with the fibres of the fabric.
The blue is
a Navy, Green a deep one, Purple is a brightish deep and red is a deep
blood red.
Velour
This is a fabric
similar to velvet. A higher pile than the Velveteen. Cotton
adds extra absorbency as well as feeling nice.
The Cotton
Velour is 80% cotton and 20% polyester (The backing is polyester for durability
and the pile is cotton).
The Bamboo
Velour is 95% bamboo, 5% polyester (Again, poly adds durability)

Bamboo
& Sherpa
Sherpa is a
hard to describe fabric, but it is a fleecy 80% cotton 20% poly fabric..
a bit like polarfleece crossed with lambswool (it's pile is sort of fluffy
in the bumpy way lambswool is). Nice and soft and adds absorbency.
I have some I hand dyed a mottled purpleish blue colour.

Bamboo
Jersey is 100% bamboo. Bamboo Velour is 95% bamboo, 5% poly.
Cotton
Jersey
Cotton jersey
is a t-shirt fabric. It is less likely to pill than flannelette.
Great for pocket
pads as it has a stretch to make putting the inserts in a bit easier.

*This feels
like a cotton jersey, but I cannot be sure that it does not have any poly
in it.
Hemp
Jersey
Hemp is grown
and processed using less chemicals to cotton, so may be a better choice
for those with sensitive skin or who like the more eco friendly alternative.
This is a 55% hemp, 45% cotton fabric. The dyed hemp has been hand
dyed by me, using procion fibre reactive dyes.
Polar
Fleece and Microfleece
Fleece is 100%
synthetic, so it does not absorb liquids, it instead tends to allow them
to pass through, or prevents them passing through.
I know that
sounds contradictory. Microfleece is a thinner version of polarfleece.
Used on top
- This creates a reasonably effective "stay-dry" feel to the pad.
The overall pad will be slightly thicker with this. Resists staining,
but can feel sweatier than natural fibres.
Used as backing
- This creates a semi-waterproof (water-resistant) layer that helps stop
the pad leaking right through. Not as effective as PUL, but preferred
by some for it's breathability.

Backing
Prints (Cotton "Pinwale" Corduroy)
These are the
non-slip backing layer I use on the hourglass pads. It does make
the pads slightly stiffer and thicker, so I generally avoid using it on
winged pads, where its slip-resistance isn't needed. It is very hard
to find appropriate coloured fine corduroy, so I don't have as many
fabrics to choose from. I generally choose the best colour
match cord based on the colour of the pads.

Turquise Microfleece
closely matches the Turquoise PUL. Mauve microfleece closely matches the
Periwinkle PUL, Light pink Velour closely matches light pink PUL.
