Make a Donation
Apart from details of donations
we are trying to organise ourselves, this website will contain a list of
aid organisations that will accept donations of menstrual products.
Both disposable and reusable.
(For more information on
why disposables or reusables would be appropriate, see the Disposables
Vs Reusables page)
We are trying to make a list
of any projects that deal with giving menstrual products to women in need.
You can make a donation (fabric, pads, money) to these, depending on what
donations they would prefer. If we are running a donation drive ourselves,
details will be in the Current Projects page, and details in the News blog.
Agencies accepting cloth pads or fabric:
-
http://www.goods4girls.org
- An organisation that collects cloth pads to send to African girls.
-
http://www.goonj.info/sanitary%20napkins.php
- An organisation that collects 1foot squares of fabric to make into cloth
pads for women in India. (They did not answer
my e-mail where I asked if they accepted donations of actual pads.)
-
http://www.imagitek.com/cuca
- An organisation that collects fabric which is taken to Cuba where it
is sewn into cloth pads. I am not sure if they accept donations of
made up pads.
Agencies accepting disposable products or Money:
(I imagine most aid agencies provide disposable products
to women and accept donations, but here is a small list to give you some
ideas)
-
http://www.actsa.org
- An agency working in Zimbabwe. Only accepts monetary donations
as it prefers to have disposable products made in Zimbabwe to support the
local economy, and water shortage means reusable products are not possible.
-
http://www.tampontification.com/donate.php
- Works with Womens Shelters in America. Donate organic cotton tampons
or chlorine free pads.
-
http://www.alolafoundation.org
- Creates Maternity packs for women in East Timor including cloth pads.
Only accepts monetary donations for women there to make the pads.
Other places that may be open
to donations of menstrual products are womens shelters (for homeless and
abused women). http://www.shelters.org
has details of shelters in America and Canada. Many orphanages will
need menstrual products for the young women there, and some schools in
impoverished areas may accept some too (for times when a girl student is
in need and would otherwise have to go home) You may also have luck
going to your local Church group, as they may do care packages to local
impoverished families.
Please note that this website
is not affiliated with any aid organisations, and that any donations you
make to any organisations are between you and them.
This website is not run
by a charity or aid organisation.
