The different phases of the Moon represent the different aspect of the Goddess.  The New Moon represents the Maiden aspect, birth,  initiation, virginity, new beginnings, the hunt.  The Full Moon represents the Mother, growth, fulfilment, sexuality, maturation, nurturing, love.  The Dark Moon represents the Crone, the woman past menopause, old age, deep secrets, wisdom, divination, prophecy, death and resurrection, endings.
